Brick plays an important role in building materials, about this we are going to know how many bricks will be required when we are doing any building construction work.

Suppose we have taken a wall, whose

length = 20 feet

height = 10 feet

Thickness = 9 inches

In this way we have taken the data of wall one wall, now we have to figure out, how many bricks will this wall take? For that it is very important for us to know the volume of a brick. Bricks also come in many sizes, but the size of bricks used specifically in India is 9 inches x 4.5 inches x 3 inches (9''x4.5''x3'').

Brick length = 9 inches

Brick width = 4.5 inches

Brick Height / Thickness = 3 inches

Now we will take out the volume of the whole wall, and after that we will take out the volume of one brick. Let's take a look

Volume of wall = L x B x H

                         = 20'x 9'' x 10' Now convert 9 inches to feet

                           = 20' x 0.75' x 10' ( 1 inch = 0.084 feet / 1 foot = 12 inches )

 Volume of wal = 150 cft (feet)3 ( 9 inch = 0.75 inch )Volume of wall = L x B x H

                         = 20’x 9’’ x 10’                                 

                           =  20’ x 0.75’ x 10’                        

 Volume of wal =  150 cft 3                              

 Volume of One Brick -

Volume of brick = L x B x H

                            = 9'' x 4.5'' x 3''

                            = 0.75' x 0.37' x 0.25' (Now convert inches to feet.)

Volume of brick = 0.069 cft ( ft )3


This is the volume of our one brick without masala (Without Mortar) has been found. Mortar is the one in which cement and sand are attached. Now we have to find the volume of brick with mortar. Then we will be able to find the total number of bricks in the wall.

One Brick volume with mortar -

When a wall is made, we also need a mortar in it, in which cement and sand are kept, so when brick is masonry, mortar is placed in each layer and after each brick, whose size is 0.5 inches. |

So with mortar, the size of the brick will be 9.5'' x 4.10'' x 3.5''. Now we will find the volume of brick with mortar.

 

So one brick volume with mortar = L x B x H

                                                           = 9.5'' x 4.10'' x 3.5'' (Convert inches to feet)

                                                           = 0.79' x 0.34' x 0.29'

                                                           = 0.078 cft

=Volume of wall / Volume of one brick with mortar

= 150 / 0.078

= 1923 Bricks

5 % Extra for broken bricks

Total no of bricks requirment 1923 + 96 = 2019 Bricks

Cement Mortar-

Cement mortar is a mixture of cement sand and water used as a binder or binding agent in masonry. What is the thickness of brick cement mortar? The strength of the masonry depends on the thickness of the mortar. The cement mortar in the masonry is approx. 0.4" to 0.5" or 10mm thick. Cement mortar thicknesses greater than 0.5 inch will reduce the strength of the brick wall and should not be used.

For brick calculations, only cement mortar thicknesses of 0.4" to 0.5" or 10mm should be used in brickwork. Greater than 0.4" to less than 0.5" will reduce the strength of the brick wall.

9 Inch Brick  Wall Calculation-

No wall dimensions are required to calculate the bricks in a 9’' wall. For example, if the wall is 10 feet long, 10 feet high, and 10 inches thick. 

Then we can find its brick in this way. Multiply the wall dimensions, such as 10 feet by 10 feet by 0.83 feet. We get 83 cubic feet. Since 1 cut contains 13.5 standard bricks, number of bricks = 83.3 × 13.5 = 1125 bricks.

 Let's say you have a 10-by-10-square-foot, 10-inch-thick brick wall that uses double brick walls.
Amount of bricks needed = volume of brick wall ÷ volume of one mortar brick, the volume of the brick wall you specified is 83.3 cubic feet, the volume of one mortar brick is (10 inches x 5 inches x 3.5 inches) ÷ 1728 = 0.10 cubic feet, so number of bricks in a 10 inch wall = 83.3 ÷ 0.10 = 833.

Cost of bricks: - if the price of bricks is 8 rupees per piece then 833 bricks cost e.g. 833 × 8 = 6664 rupees.

4 Inch Brick  Wall Calculation-

We know that bricks come in different shapes and sizes and sizes vary from country to country, but in this topic we are measuring by Indian standard brick sizes used in standard calculations. When calculating a 4" brick wall, the nominal size of the combined brick is 8" long x 4" wide x 4" thick, and its actual size is 7.48" x 3.54" x 3.54".

Assuming you have a 10 x 10 square foot 4 inch thick brick wall, you will need a single layer brick wall.

● Number of bricks needed = area of ​​brick ÷ area of ​​one mortar brick, you give the area of ​​a brick as 100 square feet and the area of ​​one brick as 8 inches x 4 inches = 32 squares. in. or 0.222 square feet (32÷144 = 0.222), so number of bricks in a 4" wall = 100÷0.222 = 450 bricks.

Cost of bricks: - if the price of bricks is 8 rupees per piece, then it costs 450 rupees, e.g. 450 × 8 = 3600 rupees.

Mortar volume required = (4" wall volume - 450 brick volume) x 1.33, 4" wall volume = 100 x 0.33 = 33 cubic feet, 450 brick volume = 7.48" x 3.54" x 3, 54" x 450 = 24.41 cubic feet. Amount of grout needed = (33 _ 24.41) × 1.33 = 11.5 cubic feet.

Cement-sand ratio: - Consider the standard cement-sand ratio of 1:6 (1 part cement mix to 6 parts sand) required for preparing masonry mortar. Total ratio = 1 6 = 7, part of cement = 1/7, part of sand = 6/7
